Saipan / Tinian Pre Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - March 9
Arrive Los Angeles for overnight (Make your own hotel reservations. Room block @ Sheraton 4-Points Airport Hotel, 800-529-4683.)
**Unless you arrange through MHT for direct connect flights.

Day 2 - March 10
Depart Los Angeles for Saipan (via Honolulu and Guam). (Cross International Dateline - lose a day.)

Day 3 - March 11
Arrive Saipan in evening with a traditional Saipan island welcome. Check into the Pacific Island Club hotel and relax remainder of evening.

Day 4 - March 12
Buffet breakfast . A full day WWII history tour of Saipan beginning at the newly opened American Memorial Park Visitor Center. Next , the 2d and 4th Marine Division beaches where you can feel how exposed the Marines were to Japanese observers on Mt Tapotchau towering 1500 feet above us. Follow the progression of the battle south to Aslito/Isley Airfield. Next proceed through the infamous “Death Valley,flanked on the east by “Purple Heart Ridge” and on the west by the ever-imposing Mt Tapotchau. Following the flow of the 1944 battle northward, pass the notorious battle site of the mass banzai attack. End the day at “Suicide Cliff” and “Banzai Cliff,” the sites of mass suicides. Here, where the battle for Saipan ended, are impressive memorials to peace. Group dinner on the beach. B,L,D provided.

Day 5 - March 13
Buffet breakfast. Depart on a high-speed catamaran ferry to Tinian island.
Marvel at the small, narrow invasion beaches where the Marine landings surprised the Japanese defenders and see pillboxes and the rusted hulk of a landing craft. Explore the now abandoned North Field...in 1944-45 the most active airfield in the world with hundreds of B-29 bombers and tens of thousands of airmen and support troops. Visit the “bomb pits” where the atomic bombs were loaded and see Runway Able from which the Enola Gay took off for Hiroshima. Fly back to Saipan late afternoon. Group dinner at the Cultural Village. Day 6 - March 14
Buffet breakfast. Participate in a moving ceremony at the American Memorial Park. Each veteran will be individually honored by the Saipan Governor, with a beach side buffet lunch to follow. The remainder of the day will be at leisure to take care of any unfinished shopping, take a swim, and to pack for an early evening flight to Guam. After check-in at the Guam Outrigger Resort, evening is at your leisure. B,L provided

Main Tour Itinerary for Guam & Iwo Jima
NOTE: Due to the complicated nature of our departure for Guam, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that those traveling through Los Angeles arrange to overnight at the group hotel - Sheraton Four Points - to participate in our evening briefing and group departure the next day. Day 1- March 13
Depart Los Angeles for Guam (Cross dateline, lose a day)

Day 2- March 14
Arrive Guam. Transfer to Outrigger Guam Resort. Enjoy a traditional Island "Chamorro Welcome!"

Day 3- March 15
Breakfast and briefing, Morning at leisure with PM Memorial Softball Game & Fiesta @ Trimble Memorial Field. Evening at leisure.

Day 4- March 16
Tour south end of island to include Asan Beach, Asan Overlook, COMNAVMAR - Museum and the War Dog Memorial. Lunch at Jeff’s Pirates Cove. B,L, provided.

Day 5- March 17
Today, we participate in a full day Educational - Historical Symposium on the Battle of Iwo Jima, co-hosted by the Pacific Aviation Museum at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, HI. Amercan and Japanese Historians and Veterans will offer their perspective on different aspects of the battle, including roundtable discussions and Luncheon Guest Speaker. Additionally, a comprehensive pre-tour briefing on "Iwo Jima Today" will be conducted. Tonight, we gather for the 64th Anniversary Reunion of Honor Banquet, with honored local guests and Military and Civilian Dignitaries.

Day 6- March 18 - Joint Reunion of Honor on Iwo Jima
Flight to Iwo Jima. Upon arrival, you will be briefed on the plan for the day and begin your tour of the island. (NOTE: VERY LIMITED TRANSPORTATION - FOR IWO JIMA VETERANS AND THEIR OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY! EVERYONE ELSE WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROCEED ON FOOT DURING THEIR TOUR OF THE ISLAND.) The Memorial Service will begin at approximatley 1100 and you will have ample opportunity to visit the nearby beaches and Japanese bunkers prior to the commencement of the Memorial Service overlooking the landing beaches. Following the ceremony, you may continue your tour of the island on foot. A map of significant points of interest will be provided, to include: Landing Beaches, Memorial Sites, Green Beach, Base of Suribachi, Top of Suribachi, Naval Gun revetments, Hospital Cave, General Kuribayashi's HQ cave, and much more. ALL PERSONS must report back to the airfield for Passport and Customs Processing at least two hours prior to departure for Guam. B,L,D provided.

Day 7- March 19
Tour Spanish sites and tour Gef Pa’go Cultural Village.Tour Andersen Air Force Base, including Andersen Wives Club Boutique, Arc Light Memorial, Heritage Museum. Lunch at Top of the Rock and Terague Overlook. Tonight we gather for a Farewell dinner at John Gerber's Ranch and Museum. Hosted by Guam Chapter,Third Marine Division Association. B, L, D provided.

Day 8- March 20
Guam & Saipan groups depart for home or Hawaii post tour. (Cross International date line - gain a day)
** Peleliu Battlefield tour depart this evening for their flight to Koror, Palau and overnight.

Post Tour to Peleliu
Day 1- March 20- Guam departure - Day at leisure in Guam to rest, relax and explore. Depart hotel this afternoon for airport, with evening flight to Koror. Upon arrival, evening at leisure.

Day 2 - March 21- Peleliu - Early AM departure for our boat ride through the beautiful Rock Islands along the way to Peleliu. Check into rooms with lunch on the beach. After lunch explore The Point and White Beach One and Two and adjacent areas. As time allows, a bus tour of the island will give the group the overall picture and layout of the island. Roundtable discussion session in the evening after dinner for those who want to participate. Evening at leisure.

Day 3 - March 22- Peleliu Trek into Wildcat Bowl to view artifacts (Japanese artillery piece, napalm tank, water catch basin etc) of the battle and explore caves. After lunch we will trek into the jungle to view the Sherman tank destroyed by a land mine and aircraft wreckage.

Day 4 - March 23- Peleliu - Trek into the Horse Shoe Valley to view fighting positions of the Japanese, the air compressor used by the 81st Infantry Division to clear caves and other artifacts of the battle. In the afternoon we will trek into Death Valley to view the Last Command Post of the Japanese commander of the island.

Day 5 - March 24- Walk from the village to Hill Row. Caves, gun bunkers and artillery pieces on the north face of Hill Row, called Hills 1, 2 and 3. Radar Hill is just across the road to the east. Lunch will be followed by our return to Koror by boat.

Day 6 - March 25- Koror
Depart for home at 0200, cross the date line and gain a day. Arrive in Los Angeles this same day.

There are a number of artifacts and remnants of the battle of Peleliu located all around the island that will be visited as time allows. These include: Betty Bomber wreckage, 200mm gun in a cave, Zero wreckage, big gun bunkers and caves, Japanese tank and Headquarters Building and of course the Museum of the battle for Peleliu.

NOTE: This tour utilizes tourist class accomodations on Peleliu to maximize the battlefield touring. The activities listed are of an “adventure” nature, requiring minimal good physical fitness. Please contact our office with any questions.

Post Tour to Hawaii
March 20- Depart Guam for Hawaii

March 19 (Cross International Dateline - gain a day.)
Arrive Honolulu early evening and check into hotel.
Dinner on own.

March 20 - USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri and Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island with lunch. Remainder of day and evening at leisure.
Breakfast and lunch provided. Dinner on own.
Optional: Polynesian Dinner Show.

March 21 - Ceremony @ Pacific War Memorial, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay and the "Punchbowl" National Cemetery of the Pacific. Remainder of day and evening at leisure.
Breakfast provided. Lunch and dinner on own.

March 22 - Day of leisure. Breakfast provided. Lunch on own, with "No Host" Farewell Dinner.

March 23 - Day of leisure. Late checkout. Leave Honolulu in evening. Arrive Los Angeles 5:00AM, March 24.
