MILITARY HISTORICAL TOURS (MHT) is proud to return to Guam where you will awaken to the lush, tropical beach front setting of the Outrigger Resort Hotel overlooking the beautiful beach, and coral reefs of Tumon Bay. Guam is the largest of the Marianas and had been a United States possession since its capture from Spain in 1898 until it was invaded by the Japanese on December 11, 1941. On July 21, 1944 the Americans landed on both sides of the Orote peninsula on the western side of Guam, planning to cut off the airfield. The 3rd Marine Division landed near Agana to the north of Orote, and the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade & 77th Infantry Division landed near Agat to the south. Come back with the NMPW as we return for the 66th Commemoration with the veterans who liberated Guam.

DAILY ITINERARIES

Full Tour - Guam, Siapan & Tinian
16 Jul Fri - (Day 1)
Depart Bush International for Saipan & Tinian (connecting flight in Hawaii). (Cross International Dateline/lose a day.)

17 Jul Sat - (Day 2)
Arrive Guam in late afternoon and take the short flight to Saipan. Check into the Pacific Island Club that is located on one of the 4th Marine Division landing beachs. Hotel: Pacific Island Club (PIC) (Meals in flight)

18 Jul Sun - (Day 3)
After breakfast, We depart for a full day on a WWII history tour of Saipan beginning at the newly opened American Memorial Park Visitor Center. Next , the 2d and 4th Marine Division invasion beaches where you can feel how
exposed the Marines were to Japanese observers on Mt Tapotchau towering 1500 feet above. We proceed through the infamous "Death Valley," flanked on the east by "Purple Heart Ridge" and on the west by the ever imposing Mt Tapotchau. We travel north with the flow of the battle, past the notorious site of the mass banzai attack. End the day at "Suicide Cliff" and "Banzai Cliff," the sites of mass suicides. Here, where the battle ended, are impressive memorials to peace and relics of the battle. Hotel: PIC (B/L)

19 Jul Mon - (Day 4)
Fly to Tinian Island. Marvel at the small, narrow invasion beaches where the Marine landings surprised the Japanese defenders. and see pillboxes and the rusted hulk of a landing craft. Explore abandoned North Field in 1944-45 the most active airfield in the world with hundreds of B-29 bombers and thousands of airmen and support troops. Visit the "bomb pits" where the atomic bombs were loaded and see Runway Able where the Enola Gay took off for Hiroshima. Commemorate the USS Indianapolis (CV-35) who delivered portions of the bomb before its tragic loss.  Fly to Saipan. Group Dinner on the beach. Hotel: PIC (B/L/D)

20 Jul Tue - (Day 5)
Participate in a moving ceremony at the American Memorial Park. We will then visit the CNMI Museum and the Japanese jail. After lunch, we will have an afternoon flight to Guam and check into the Outrigger Resort Hotel and join the tour’s main body for the remainder of the tour on 21 Jul (Day3.)

19 Jul Mon - (Day 1)

20 Jul Tue - (Day 2)
Upon arrival on Guam we check into the Outrigger Resort Hotel on Tumon Bay and experience a traditional Chamorro island welcome and relax for rest of the evening. During our stay we will enjoy the ambience of the Outrigger Resort which includes the Guam Hard Rock Café and it’s own mall as well as the easy access to Guam’s premier shopping area. 21 Jul Wed - (Day 6 / 3)
We start the day by visiting tour sites within Agana with emphasis on the island’s Spanish History as well as a visit to the Governor’s House. Today is highlighted by the Special Guam Liberation Day Memorial Ceremonies followed by the Liberation Day Parade. The Veteran Liberators will be honored by the people of Guam. The commemoration day will end with a fireworks display as we enjoy the fiesta atmosphere. Hotel: Outrigger (B/Box L)

22 Jul Thur - (Day 7 / 4)
After a buffet breakfast, we begin our exploration of Guam with a historical tour of Andersen Air Force Base to include the museum, Peace Memorial (Last Command Post) and the Arc Light Memorial with lunch at the “Top of the Rock.” Remainder of afternoon at leisure, to shop or enjoy the multiple pools and swim in the clear blue water of Tumon Bay. 23 Jul Fri - (Day 8 / 5)
This morning we have a full day WWII history tour of Guam with local and MHT historians, beginning with the southern part of the island including the Asan Invasion Beach and Overlook. We continue to Agat Point, visit the museum, and the War Dog Memorial on the “Big Navy” Naval Station. We will have a late lunch at the famous “Jeff’s Pirates Cove” on the beach. Tonight is a special Farewell Dinner at John Gerber’s renown Third Marine Division and Battle of Guam Museum. Hotel: Outrigger (B/L/D)

24 Jul Sat - (Day 9 / 6)
Today some will travel to Hawaii for the post-tour while the remainder depart for the mainland in the early morning, cross the international dateline and arrive back into Houston the same day as we depart.

24 Jul Sat - (Day 1) Depart Guam for Hawaii (Cross International Dateline - gain a day.) Arrive Honolulu early evening of the 23rd and check into the Outrigger Resort.

24 Jul Sat - (Day 2) After breakfast,
we will visit the USS Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri. While on historic Ford Island, tour the new Pacific Aviation Museum., including lunch at the museum. (B/L/Dinner on own)

25 Jul Sun - (Day 3) Breakfast at Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay, followed by a visit to the Pacific War Memorial. Travel to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific “Punchbowl” - for a private ceremony. Remainder of the day & evening at leisure. (B)

26 Jul Mon- (Day 4) Day of leisure on the Waikiki Beaches. (B)

27 Jul Tue - (Day 5) Day of leisure. Late checkout. Leave Honolulu in evening. Arrive Houston midday 28 July.
