London-Duxford-Stonehenge-Kent-Portsmouth

Military Historical Tours is proud to offer another in our series of historic anniversary tours to the battlefields of the world.  Our tour starts in London, with a tour of all the must see historical sites along the River Thames. Take in all the cultural highlights plus an emphasis on WWII as the Battle of Britain as we visit the Imperial War Museum at Duxford to remember the epic struggle versus Hitler’s Third Reich and ended with many departing from Portsmouth for Operation Overlord on D-day. We proceed to Portsmouth with stops at fascinating Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. In Portsmouth we see the grander of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy and the D-Day Museum. It will be a fun and entertaining MHT trip to Merry Ole England.

Tour Host: MajGen James Livingston, USMC(Ret), Medal of Honor

On 2 May, 1968, Capt Livingston led his Company E, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 9th MAB Marines against a large NVA & VC force in the village of Dai Do. Another Marine company was isolated & Echo Company was ordered to win back the heavily fortified village.
That day, Livingston led his men across 500 meters of rice paddies that left them vulnerable to intense enemy fire. Livingston's men then fearlessly began their assault against enemy emplacements within the village. Together, Livingston & his men destroyed more than 100 enemy bunkers & drove the rest of the enemy from their positions killing 400 enemy soldiers. In the attack, he was wounded twice by grenade fragments but refused medical attention. He mustered his remaining Marines to support a third company in thwarting a counterattack from the nearby village of Dinh To. He was wounded a third time but managed to withdraw his Marines before allowing himself to be medevaced.
MajGen Livingston recounted the battle in his book “Noble Warrior” & for his leadership he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
